Gone fishing
We have had a couple of kayaks for years but in the summer the sea is too calm as I like to surf with it but then my brother kept sending emails about how many mackrel he caught last night ranging from 10-25 1 So off I go to Super U and buy a mackrel line ready to use . The first couple of attempts didn't count ,but last week ,new moon, calm sea, sticky atmosphere and about 15 boats fishing I thought this must be my night. Did I catch any thing the fish were jumping out of the water all around me having a good laugh the only danger to them was if they fell in the kayak and I hit them over the head. I think my middle name must be Jonah
Last night was the St Sebastien jazz festival onsite at Coat Aillis the big band Tempo turned up and we recorded 10 numbers to make a CD. The most amusing sight was at the beginning when all the instruments were getting in tune the rhythm section were playing babyfoot in one corner of the games room with Boris the professional sax player from Paris. It was a very tiring evening as its a lot harder than a concert as you have to repeat a number if the boss says so.Tonight is our last gig of the summer at the seafront at Tregastel it usually blows a lot as we are just in front of the sea

Yesterdays free entertainment
Yesterday in the afternoon the onsite excitement was the local farmer having a "field ( 2 acres ) cut of rape seed oil by a massive combine, good men's sport. The rape seed is the fashion this year as they have built a big plant at Nantes to process it for bio-diesel I'm not sure whether it requires more energy to grow and process than is received i suppose it depends on oil prices etc.
Then later on in the evening about 10 I was chatting in a garden with some clients when I heard a cow bellowing away , which suggested she had escaped, sure enough i met her on the road I think the combine had cut the elctric fence to their paddock so went to ring farmer in the mean time cow does a circut of gites going up the lane to another fieldfollowed by crowd of clients with glasses in hand. She did a tour of the field and then I took her back to original paddock by which time Francois had arrived with friends. We repaired the fence and parted . Another day in the countryside

Allez les Bleus
Not sure wether to watch in a bar or at home with the clients tonight's final as have feeling the Italians could nick it. Its been a busy week Max got his bac so is off to Brest to do law and so we had to find an appartment last Friday , the studio we found is 19 msq totally white with a sink 2 burners and fridge in one corner and nothing else, rent is 285€ a month which is around the going rate ( Rennes is 400€ + ) its in a block of 160 studios with common room and a couple of rooms with washing machine ping pong and a musculation room for the girls. Its a 15 minute walk to the fac , Brest is a dull place bombed heavily in the war but they didn't damage the U boat bases but destroyed the town and it is mostly rebuilt in concrete in 60 style. As paulien says an interesting name but boring town.
Lots of Irish staying one couple Cathy mentioned it to her aerobics teacher and she stayed here at whitsun so we are becoming well known there.
Max has started working at Super U lots of 6.00 starts in the morning a good training + incentive to get qualifications for later on perhaps I should have got him to sign the lease on the studio.
