Trip to England
Had my annual trip to the UK to do a bit of shopping ,buy a pile of books ,do some work for my sister but most importantly pick up my new (newish ) sax which I bought on ebay . There isn't a lot of things cheaper in England but bed linen can be bought for half the price so that was my main purchase also bought a bath tap but latter on found I could have bought it for two thirds the price in my local brico . I did some work for my sister who is converting an old barn into a granny flat for my mother they have a builder so I helped him for 5 days . Its in an interesting village 5 minutes from Okehampton a place I really don't like as I was born there but the village is great as you can walk to the 2 pubs which is only 2 minutes away it has a village shop/post office selling loads of organic stuff I suppose the locals are not far from Exeter so it has probably changed a lot since I was last there as a small boy at the local carnival .
Spent most of this week cleaning houses as we are full next week for the half term holiday most of them are repeaters Rollo from Kilk is bring his skybox so he doesn't miss any of the rugby in the Heinken cup competition. After they all have gone will attack one of the roofs that needs replacing

Apples falling its cider time
We have about an acre of orchard 50+ trees of which only 4 are eaters the rest are for making cider. As neithe of us like cider we are interested in them so give them away ,Rodger has first pick taking the early fallers and normally the neighbour on the corner takes the later crop as its a different variety ideal for calvados (distilled cider to be avoided by sane people ) but 2 years ago they drove through the orchard with their 4 wheel drive tractor making big ruts so Paulien banned them last year . However this year she has offered us 4 bottles ( she has the right to make 20l each year but its a right which dies with her as the gouvernment wants to reduce the number of people making it ) of calvados so they are back in favour. We don't drink the stuff but give it to clients who want to destroy their liver.
The papers had a peculiar french story last week concerning a new law banning the sale of nettle liquid its used as an organic insectiside and can also be used as a fertilizer also the law made it illegal to publish the recipe so promptly a bunch of organic farmer went on TV and gave it out one kilo of nettles to 10 l of water and leave a week . A bizarre law
The jazz fanfare had its last outting of the year we played at Montcour which is a pretty old town 20km south of St Brieuc with narrow streets and good accoustics for playing some one told me Boris our guest sax player is one of Frances top players so we are fortunate he plays with us .
