July 14th a damp squib

The big firework display for Bastille day and the previous evening was dampened by a heavy shower an hour before the event, St Michel en Greve and Locquirec hold their celebrations on the 13th with the latter being my favourite as it has more happening before the fireworks. Usually some Breton music, dancing and it takes place at the port so for the fireworks you can lie on the beach and watch the pyrotechnics overhead and at the same time listen to classical music blaring out, quite bizarre.
Xav is recovering quickly from his cracked bone in his foot having discarded his crutches is now hopping around like a frog. Locally the season is in full swing as most of France is on holiday, Super U is open Sunday morning just to 12.30, Max is on the early shift and starts at 6.30 working in the baking section. I tell the clients to be nice to him and then when they see a tart they fancy to ask for a 10% reduction sticker. You can always ask.
The evening market at Plestin starts this week on Tuesday its an arty/craft thing with the usual Breton flavour + food and drink, they sell an interesting red beer called "Dremwell "made at Tregieur. Also this week is Plestin's cultural highlight the "Nuit de Saucisse " on Friday where they have 4-5 bands playing in the parking lot and obviously sell the famous "saucisse ".The better musical event takes place in Lannion the night before the "Tardive " which is music in the streets ,weather permitting
