A few drops of rain

I 'm not a great news watcher but Saturday night after cleaning 3 gites we watched the news of all the flooding in the Uk while watching it rain chez nous, then we noticed our office was leaking a bit so while we were sorting out the boys checked the gites. There is one gite that could flood but never has, meanwhile the rain changed up a gear to overdrive and the boys reported flooding in a gite it was only a couple of inches but it took a couple of hours of preventing/cleaning to sort out with bin liners filled with sand the best flood prevention. When it eventually stopped the water was amazing a couple of the gite gardens totally submerged none of the drains working the water just flowed over the surface and the boys had found a new sport."Grass surfing" in the orchard which they videoed and put on youtube
In Plestin les greves the muncipality has a camp site at St Efflam which had to be abandoned and the campers were put up in the salle de sport. It was interesting meeting people in the market next day ( lovely blue sky ) who only lived 20 minutes away and didn't have any rain so it was very much localised. In 15 years we have never seen rain or floods like it so now we will have to build in pumping systems and a manual bailer for each gite.

I was there! The mini flash flood coming back from Plestin on Saturday night was awesome! The debris on the road this mornng was much less than I thought it would be.

Got home safely by the way and thanks for a great (if wet) fortnight!!

Hi Guys, Jus a quick note to say that we had a ball for the two weeks we stayed in the Gite. We got home to Ireland to see the big yellow ball thing in the sky. Ten minutes later after leaving the airport the heavens opened... It was just like France.
Hi Hilary, Keith and Nicola. Good to meet you.

All the best and see you next year
